intriguing and distinctive taste with notes of chocolate, caramel, and fruit.
Our uniquely rare, single-origin Arabica coffee is back. This extraordinary coffee is grown in the rich, volcanic soils of El Salvador exclusively for illy and released in limited supply. The product of 20 years of research and careful plant selection, Idillyum is naturally low in caffeine with an intriguing, distinctive taste all its own, including notes of chocolate, caramel and fruit - a one-of-a-kind sensory for the coffee lovers. Caffeine content is less than 1%, compared to 1.5% in other illy coffees.
Idillyum is a single bean coffee made with a highly valued Arabica variety called Laurina, which is naturally low in caffeine: it contains less than 1%, i.e. one third less caffeine compared to traditional Arabica varieties and less than half the amount of caffeine compared to Robusta. Laurina is a delicate plant, which produces few precious beans, and it is grown for illy in El Salvador, where the mild climate, the presence of shade plants, and the highly fertile volcanic soil combine to create the perfect conditions for its cultivation. Idillyum’s aroma profile is rich and unmistakable, with fruity notes of caramel and chocolate.
